Vikings at War

With our upcoming Viking combat school next year, I thought it would be a great idea over the next few months to read as much as possible on the Vikings, their combat techniques, and weaponry.

One of the latest books, I received to review was the Vikings at War book.

This is a meaty tome and covers practically everything I am researching in one book. Score!

The book covers warfare, fortifications, ships, weapons as well as their practical application with a big section on Viking invasions.

It covers a huge amount yet the book is really accessible and easy to read.  It is also really easy to dip in and out of.  The illustrations are fantastic and both authors know their stuff.

They share a huge amount of resources. I love the little snippets of weapon naming conventions.  Says a lot about the viking sense of humour.

This book is a huge labour of love and one which will stay on my bookshelf for a long time as a constant reference guide..

If you only buy one book on Viking combat – make it this one…

You can buy the book here from Pen and Sword books.

Please note I was not paid to write this review but was sent a review copy of the book. All comments are my own, and the publishers have not amended the review in any way.
